In this morning’s sermon I referenced the marathoner from Tanzania who finished the 1968 Olympic marathon long after the others. John Stephen Akhwari fell earlier in the race, badly injuring his leg…yet he continued to run & limp his way to the finish. When asked why he didn’t quit, he simply said, “My country didn’t send me 5000 miles to start the race, they sent me to finish it!”
He reminds me that we are to “run with perseverance the race set before us (Hebrews 12:1b).”
